Samu Studio: Here Comes the Sun

Samu Studio presents Collection One: “Here Comes the Sun”

The debut collection, exhibition, and concept space by Norwich-based artist and designer Sam Harrons.

Here Comes the Sun is an immersive exhibition by interdisciplinary artist and designer Sam Harrons of Samu Studio. This show delves into themes of mindfulness, biophilic design, and spatial design, showcasing a new body of minimalist abstract paintings, digital studies, and innovative mycelium-grown sculptures.

Mirroring the intricate network structure of mycelium, Sam weaves together subtle elements from his eclectic fifteen-year creative journey as an artist living and working in Norwich. This journey is symbolically rooted in the Fairhurst Gallery, which once housed Dogfish, a renowned streetwear store where Sam worked. The store is a cultural asset fostering creativity and enriching Norwich’s cultural landscape.

Coinciding with the Summer Solstice, Here Comes the Sun symbolises new beginnings and the renewal of creative energy. Inspired by Kettle’s Yard, the exhibition offers a multi-sensory experience within a curated living room environment. Visitors can enjoy a hot cup of tea, coffee, or functional mushrooms while immersing themselves in ambient light, sound, scent, touch, art, and more. The space features carefully curated objects and designer furniture from brands chosen for their ethical and aesthetic alignment with Samu Studio. Highlights include iconic Togo by Ligne Roset, scents by Haeckels, Tala lighting, and TAKT furniture.

Experiential Events

Throughout the ten-day event, there will be guided meditations, paper collage workshops with G . F Smith, and men’s mental health discussions in collaboration with our charity partner Talk Club, enhancing the connection between creativity and well-being.

Talk Club is a men’s mental health charity focused on creating supportive communities through open conversations. Its mission is to improve the well-being of men by providing a safe and inclusive environment where they can discuss their feelings and mental health challenges. By promoting regular check-ins and encouraging honest dialogue, Talk Club aims to reduce the stigma surrounding men’s mental health issues, foster emotional resilience, and ultimately reduce male suicide rates. The organisation offers various support groups, activities, and resources to help men connect, share, and support each other in their mental health journeys. Visit talkclub.org to learn more.
